Homework

Article 1 : PE

Q1: The writer's claim is that Physical Education is a waste of time and that should not be a compulsory course but an optional course. The writer also claims that PE promotes bullying and it is not required for most of the jobs society has to offer.

Q2:A good piece of Evidence is the bullying part.

Evidence: "When I had to take P.E in the 7th grade, I was constantly made fun of and teased. I was teased because I was the slowest runner and I had no athletic ability, whatsoever. I’m not the only person who has gotten bullied because of physical education."

This is an example type of evidence since it is from the writer of the article him/herself.

Article 2 : Tourism

Q1: The writer's claim is that Tourism should not have existed and many natural habitats (The Galápagos Islands for this case) would not have deteriorated and that tourism is the cause of many ecological disasters.

Q2: A piece of Evidence can be found from the Tourism can lead to extinction of animals.

Evidence: "Tourism can also lead to species becoming endangered or even extinct. As stated on (http://www.economist.com/node/1224408), “So far, the Galapagos has kept 95%,” which I daresay is a good thing, “compared with just 50% in Hawaii. But how long can that continue?” Even though there are some restoration centers already maintaining some of the species, but as it said, “How long can that continue?”"

This evidence is an example of a statistics type since an Internet source is used for reference.

Q3: From the article, it is assume that Tourism is a main factor for the decline and extinction of many ecological habitats and animals.

Article 3: Nukes ?

Q1: The writer is claiming that nukes are not good and are basically a wastage of resources with horrible consequences once used.

Q2: "A major study by the International Energy Association concluded that all nuclear plants have a 50% chance of having a major nuclear accident during their 1st 10 years. In 1986, a major nuclear accident that happened at Chernobyl, Ukraine caused an estimate of about 30,000 deaths to 60,000 short term and long-term deaths. This was a wakeup call to the world of how dangerous nuclear energy is. "

Authority. Its kinda obvious with the "IEA" thing.

Q3: From the article, it is assumed that Nuclear energy is apparently considered a sin to use and that it only have and will give disastrous consequences if used because the energy provided is apparently not useful at all according to the article.
